This policy explains how Spark Books ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and app. It should be read alongside our Privacy policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Under UK law (PECR) and EU GDPR, we must tell you what cookies we use and, for non-essential cookies, obtain your consent before setting them.

Essential cookies

These are strictly necessary for the service to work. We do not need your consent for them, but we still explain them here.

Authentication — Clerk sets session cookies so you can sign in securely.
OAuth state — Short-lived cookies when you connect Gmail, Xero, or other providers (CSRF protection during OAuth).
Cookie consent — sb_cookie_consent stores your cookie choices for up to 12 months.

Analytics cookies (optional)

Only set if you choose "Accept all" or enable Analytics in cookie settings. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand product usage. You can refuse these and still use Spark Books fully.

How to change your choice

Use to reopen the banner, or clear cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics data from being collected; it does not affect essential sign-in cookies while you use the app.
